Windy City fails to make Top 10

The windiest city in the United States is not
Chicago even though that is its nickname.

The top honor goes to Blue Hill Massachusetts.

Primarily due to sea breezes, Blue Hill, on a 24-hour basis year round has the most wind.

The top 10 windiest cities and average wind speed (24 hours a day year round) are:

  • Blue Hill, Massachusetts (15.4 mph)
  • Amarillo, Texas (13.5 mph)
  • Rochester, Minnesota (13.1 mph)
  • Cheyenne, Wyoming (12.9 mph)
  • Casper, Wyoming (12.9 mph)
  • Great Falls, Montana (12.7 mph)
  • Goodland, Kansas (12.6 mph)
  • Boston , Massachusetts (12.5 mph)
  • Lubbock, Texas (12.4 mph)
