Fall Protection Lesson

When Danny Paterson plummeted six floors to what should have been certain death, he carried with him in his wallet his union "fall protection" card. The card didn't prevent the death-defying fall from his apartment balcony when he went to retrieve a bird cage from the balcony. "I had my foot on top of the railing and then I got dizzy. Paterson underwent eight hours of emergency surgery. Ahead of him are years of weekly physiotherapy trips and daily heart and blood pressure pills for the rest of his life.
