Girlfriend Killed in Forklift Accident

It was a Sunday morning. Only a thump, then Karen Horak was pale and motionless on the ground accidentally killed by her boyfriend's forklift on a day she had come to the storage yard simply to be near him. Ruark worked at Osprey Building Materials in Riviera Beach. He was preparing a load of building materials to be shipped out the next day. "I just went in to go do something, and she came in to spend time with me. We didn't get to see each other a lot."

While Horak was throwing away some trash, he started up a forklift to move it out of his way. The forklift was carrying a trash bin, which partially blocked his view. "She was behind something and must have stepped out," he said. "I don't know, I didn't see her."
